The Common…
where we all come together!
The Windsor Common, located in the very heart of town and on the site of the original high school, is the perfect place to gather after the Annual Parade. This cherished space comes alive with vendors, crafts, music, and plenty of opportunities to reconnect and socialize with friends old and new. It’s more than just a community hub—it’s where tradition continues. Each year, the Alumni Association delivers its annual address here, and new term officers are elected, keeping our legacy strong for generations to come.
The Windsor Library Annual Book Sale draws eager readers as early as 7:00 AM, and by 7:30 the Murphy-Morse 5K is already bringing runners, walkers, and supporters into town, their route winding right past the Common. By the time the Parade kicks off at 10:00, the whole town is alive with excitement! From the race in motion to floats and bands lining up, Windsor is buzzing well before the first drumbeat.
Because of all this early activity, we encourage vendors and participants to set up by 7:30 AM to catch the early birds. That said, if you’re juggling multiple obligations that morning (as many of us are!), being ready by 10:30 AM still ensures you’ll be perfectly positioned to take advantage of the energy once the Parade concludes and everyone gathers at the Common.
After the Parade, the heart of town truly shines. The community comes together for the Annual Address, float voting, and plenty of catching up with friends, neighbors, and alumni. Adding to the magic, Gerry Grimo and his band bring the bandstand to life, a beloved tradition that has become the soundtrack of Alumni Weekend. Every year is a little different, and the weather sets the tone, but one thing never changes: the Common is always the place to be, a vibrant blend of tradition, joy, and togetherness that makes Alumni Weekend unforgettable.
