The Windsor Alumni Association is getting more involved!
We see a need and we’re stepping up to fill it!
The Alumni Association is thrilled about our refreshed vision and the direction we’re heading. For decades, we’ve been a cornerstone of tradition, cherishing our roots, celebrating our graduates, and giving back through scholarships that help students take that next big step toward their dreams. Those scholarships will always remain a foundation of what we do, but now we’re ready to do even more.
Moving forward, we’ll be partnering directly with the Student Council across all grades to bring student-led ideas to life. We want our students, staff, and the broader community to count on us as a trusted resource for all things school-related. And because our school’s strength is built on more than just Windsor, we’ll also be extending our support to our neighbors in Weathersfield, Hartland, West Windsor and Cornish. These elementary schools are raising strong, independent, and intelligent young adults who will one day walk through the halls of Windsor High School. It’s our responsibility, and our joy, to spread that school spirit early, showing them that Windsor High is a place to thrive, be yourself, and belong to something truly special.
The opportunities we’re creating will go beyond academics. We’re building ways for students to learn real-world skills; communication, teamwork, leadership, and giving back to their community, all while discovering where they fit and who “their people” are. And yes, let’s not forget the bonus of all those community service hours along the way!
This is more than a vision; it’s a commitment. A commitment to our students, our staff, and our community to keep growing, keep giving, and keep celebrating everything that makes Windsor…Windsor!
We have quite a few ambitious ideas we are working on. These are goals of ours and although nothing is set in stone, we hope these ideas grow into something valuable and of course…FUN!
A Community Choir : Bringing Voices Together
Imagine a choir that doesn’t just sing, but connects generations, spreads joy, and creates lasting memories. The Community Choir would be made up of both students and community members who share a love for music and entertaining—not for competition or accolades, but for the pure joy of lifting spirits through song.
One of the most exciting aspects of this idea is mobility. The choir wouldn’t be limited to a single stage; instead, it could travel throughout our community, giving people the chance to send the gift of music to family members, staff, neighbors, or fellow students. Think of it like a singing telegram with heart, surprising someone at home, at school, or even at a local business with a personal touch that words alone can’t capture.
The choir could also become a beloved part of our annual traditions:
Holiday Season: Spreading cheer with carols at community events, senior centers, or even door-to-door.
Valentine’s Day: Offering “Singing Valentines” where people can request the choir to surprise a loved one with a heartfelt performance.
Annual Theater Presentation: Adding depth and energy by collaborating with the theater program, whether as an opening act, a musical backdrop, or a featured performance.
Beyond the performances, the Community Choir offers so much more: it’s a place for students and adults to collaborate, share skills, and learn from one another. It fosters confidence, builds community pride, and creates opportunities for inter-generational friendships. At its heart, this choir isn’t just about singing, it’s about weaving music into the fabric of our community in fun, meaningful, and memorable ways and that is cool-
An Annual Theater Production : Spotlight on the Arts
The stage has always been a place where imagination meets talent, and we want to ensure that opportunity thrives right here in our community. Our vision is to support and help grow an Annual Theater Production that showcases the creativity, passion, and hard work of our students. Theater isn’t just entertainment, t’s a chance for young people to build confidence, explore their creativity, and discover their voice. It’s also an opportunity for our community to come together, celebrate the arts, and enjoy an evening of storytelling that reflects both tradition and innovation.
Our role will be to provide resources, funding, and promotion, so that the theater program can focus on what it does best: creating unforgettable productions. We’ll take our lead from the school’s theater program, ensuring we are filling the gaps and strengthening their vision, not replacing it.
We believe the arts are just as important as athletics, academics, and other extracurricular activities, they give students an outlet for expression and provide our community with stories, laughter, and inspiration. Our hope is to become the go-to resource for theater support, so this annual production can grow into a cornerstone event that our students are proud of and our community looks forward to year after year.
An Annual Community Art Show : A Celebration of Creativity
Art has a way of connecting us, sparking conversation, and giving every individual, young or old, a chance to share a piece of themselves. That’s why we are so excited about the idea of hosting an Annual Art Show in partnership with the school. This event would be a true celebration of creativity, showcasing the talents of students, alumni, and community members across every medium imaginable: painting, sculpture, photography, digital design, fiber arts, and more.
Picture this: an entire week in the heart of town where artwork is proudly displayed, transforming a community space into a gallery that everyone can enjoy. The week would open with a casual Art Gala, where artists can mingle with admirers, families can stroll through the exhibits, and conversations flow as easily as the appreciation for the creativity on display. Over the course of the week, the gallery would remain open for viewing, giving everyone the chance to stop by, reflect, and celebrate the artistry within our community.
To make it even more engaging, submissions would be entered into categories, with attendees encouraged to vote for their favorites. At the close of the week, we’d host an Awards Celebration, recognizing both standout pieces and the courage it takes to put your work on display. Whether someone is an experienced artist or picking up a brush for the first time, this event would honor the pride of participation just as much as the recognition of accomplishment.
Boosting Support for Student Competitions
There is no doubt that while our school staff works tirelessly to provide opportunities, the reality is that budgets can’t always stretch far enough to cover everything our students need to feel fully supported. That’s where we see an exciting role for the Association: stepping in to help bridge the gap and make sure no student misses out on the chance to chase their passions or showcase their talents.
Sometimes these opportunities are serious academic milestones, and sometimes they’re simply downright fun—but all of them matter. We envision being the extra boost that allows students to take part in competitions, both inside and outside the school walls, without barriers holding them back. This could mean helping with transportation, travel funds, application fees, uniforms, supplies, or specialized materials. Whatever it takes to get our students from “I wish I could” to “I did it,” we want to be there.
Imagine a student invited to a regional Science Fair but unable to cover the travel costs, or a Math Club eager to compete in a state competition but missing the entry fees. Maybe it’s a budding artist entering a juried art show, a dancer traveling for a performance, or a chess enthusiast ready for their first big tournament. Whether it’s Geography Bees, Spelling Bees, Math Club, Chess Club, Science Fairs, Creative Writing groups, Dance, Art, or Athletics, we want to know when these opportunities arise and be the resource that makes them possible.
At the heart of this effort is one simple belief: every student deserves the chance to pursue their passions at the highest level they’re ready for. With the right support, we can make sure they never have to wonder if financial barriers or lack of resources will hold them back from experiencing the thrill of competing, learning, and growing..
Connecting Students with Businesses
This is one of the initiatives we are most excited about, because it has the power to directly shape futures! We plan to create and maintain a living list of surrounding businesses that are eager to support students through apprenticeships, internships, and job shadowing experiences. For the student who is ready to get a head start on their career, or for the curious one who just wants to see what a “day in the life” looks like, these opportunities can open doors in ways that the classroom alone cannot.
Our vision is to build a wide-ranging network of career opportunities right here in the Upper Valley, showcasing the many paths available across industries. From trades and healthcare to tech, finance, hospitality, the arts, and beyond, students will be able to explore careers that spark their interest and gain real-world experience while building connections with local professionals.
Just as important, we want this program to be student-driven. We encourage students to reach out and share what careers inspire them. With their input, we’ll work hand-in-hand with local businesses to create tailored opportunities that help them dive deeper, ask questions, and gain hands-on experience.
At its heart, this program is about fueling curiosity with real-life exploration. By building bridges between students and the businesses in our community, we’re not only giving young people the resources to dream big, but also strengthening the ties that keep our community vibrant and thriving. Together, we can help the next generation feel prepared, supported, and inspired as they take their first steps toward future careers..
We don’t know what we don’t know!
It really is that simple. As much as we care and as much as we plan, we know there are needs, opportunities, and ideas out there that we haven’t even thought of yet and that’s where you come in. We can’t wait to learn directly from our community what would make the biggest difference for our students and how we, as an Association, can rise to the occasion.
If you see a need, have an idea, or notice something that could spark growth, joy, or opportunity for our students, we want to hear it all. Big or small, practical or creative, your input helps shape the vision and ensures that our efforts truly reflect the heartbeat of our community. Together, we can uncover what’s missing, dream up what’s possible, and bring to life the kinds of opportunities that will carry our students and our whole community forward!
How can we support you?
Do you have an idea or project that the Windsor High School Alumni Association could support? We’re always looking for ways to serve our students, alumni, and community. Whether it’s providing volunteers, contributing funds, lending leadership, or simply spreading the word, we want to be part of making good things happen.
If you know of an opportunity where our involvement could make a difference, big or small, let us know! Our mission is to be a trusted local resource for both our students and our members, strengthening connections and creating opportunities for everyone in the Windsor High School family.
We look forward to learning more!
